Ibrahim K Fofana of Kamboi Eagles has won this year’s Africell-sponsored Premier League Best Player’s award, ahead of 4 other players who were also nominated for the same position
Apart from the best player’s award, he also received the highest goal scorer’s award, as he scored 8 goals during the league.
After receiving both awards at the National Stadium last Saturday, Ibrahim Fofana told Awoko Sports that “he is the happiest man to receive both awards and he is looking forward to win more awards in the coming years”.
He said winning such awards is a big boost for his team, Kamboi Eagles.
When asked if he has any intention of joining one of the big clubs in the country? Ibrahim said that he has received lots of request from bigger clubs, but for now he cannot say anything as he is going to determine his future in the coming days.
In a related development, Best Coach Award went to Christian Cole of Ports Authority, the team that won the league, and also the Assistant National Coach of the National Team, Leone Stars.
For the Best Defender category, it was a win for Winston Mc’Lewis of Blackpool Football Club.
The Best Midfielder Award went to Lansana Kamara of FC Kallon. All the winners in each category received cheques of five hundred thousand Leones each from the sponsors, Africell.
The winner of the just-concluded league, Ports Authority received a cheque for 15 million Leones with a trophy and medals from Africell, while the runner-up, FC Kallon, also received their 7.5 million Leones cheque , trophy and medals.
