Sahr Morris wins IMC Sports Award

One of the renowned Sports journalists in the country, Sahr Morris Jr. of Concord Times Newspaper and also shareholder in the country’s only Sports newspaper, Leone Sports, last Friday, March 2nd 2012 was awarded by the Independent Media Commission (IMC) as Best Sports Writer for the year 2011 at a ceremony held at the Mattia Conference hall in Freetown.
Three submissions were sent in for the sports category including one from three-time winner, Abubakarr Kamara of the Punch Newspaper and Station Manager of Eagle Radio and one from Ibrahim Babatunde Sesay, Managing Editor of the Satellite Newspaper.
Speaking to the press after the award, Morris thanked God for winning the award saying that it has always been a dream and that the moment “was a dream comes true”. He however noted that the award did not come as a surprise as “I have log had what it takes to win the award”. He said he is now looking forward to winning an international award.
Some of the sports journalists who spoke to Awoko Sports said the award was given to the right man this time round, as he has contributed a lot to the development of sports in the country.
