Driver jailed six months

A driver, Mohamed Koroma of 22 Circular Road, Kenema city has been sentenced to six months imprisonment or pay a fine of Le300,000.
The accused was earlier arraigned before the acting Principal Magistrate, Mohamed Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens of the Kenema Magistrate Court on two counts of violating driving a vehicle without proper documents.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused on September 18 this year, at 11a.m along Hangha Road, Kenema, in Nongowa chiefdom being a driver with vehicle registration number AFX 440, drove the said vehicle without license and insurance.
The accused was standing trial on two count charges of driving an unlicensed and uninsured vehicle, contrary to the Road Traffic Act 2007.
The accused pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to three months jail term on each count or pay a fine of Le150,000(one hundred and fifty thousand Leones) making it a total of three hundred thousand Leones.
The matter was prosecuted by Sergeant 4907 Charles M.B. of the Kenema Police division.
