Sierra Leone News: Deputy Bank Governor bows out

L - R Out going Deputy Bank Governor & GovernorThe Governor of the Central Bank has lauded the remarkable achievement of his Deputy as the latter bows out the institution at the end of her tenure.
Speaking at a farewell meet yesterday at the Central Bank, Governor Sambadeen Sesay outlined the excellent quality of his Deputy, Ms Andrina Coker, whose tenure of office came to an end on Sunday.
He told the gathering of Directors that, “it’s a bit sad as one member of the family is leaving us,” adding “I’m proud to say that as Deputy for 5 years we had an excellent working relationship and her complements are remarkable in the transformation of the bank.”
Governor Sesay disclosed that Andrina Coker contributed tremendously in bringing financial stability into the system whilst lauding her professionalism and admitting that he would “surely miss her.”
Responding to Governor Sesay’s sentiments, departing Deputy Governor Andrina Coker thanked God for the strength she endured during the last five years, feeling satisfied that she had accomplished her objectives, as the success of the bank is credited to all.
She further went on to wish the Central Bank well and urged those that she is leaving behind to be more focused in discharging their duties, stressing, “you have to work hard.”
Ms Coker also urged women saying “performance moves you,” adding that “to move on you have to be good in whatever you do.”
She lauded President Koroma for the trust he placed in her by appointing her to serve as Deputy Governor after a spell of 31 years of service to that institution, and went on to urge her successor to continue from where she is leaving.
Reflecting on her achievement to Awoko she disclosed that the introduction of the re-sized bank notes in the country was done with success, the payment system that is currently in force was not easy, but lauded those staff for their dedication.
Also, she said, the regulation of the commercial banks that saw the various acts and resolutions being passed into law.
