Sierra Leone News: Marie Stopes opens Ebola Call Centers

Marie Stopes Sierra Leone (MSSL) has established a-three man staffs call centers in Port Loko and Kambia, according to the MSSL Communications Manager, Quintin Salia-Konne.
He explained that the call center-system is established to allow contact tracers to report identified Ebola cases from their communities’ so that prompt medical care is given which will help to save more lives.
Prior to the outbreak, he explained, “Marie Stopes Sierra Leone solely concentrated on the provision of laboratory services, general medical services and family planning.”
“The Ebola outbreak came when least expected created so much panic and fears amongst individuals institutions and even the government. This situation prompted several institutions and individuals to flee beyond the borders of Sierra Leone, which propelled the closure of several public and private institutions including the most needed health focused institutions. The closure of the several health care institutions tends to be causing similar problems as that of Ebola virus,” he ascertained.
He disclosed that Mary Kaifineh the MSSL senior outreach nurse in the Pork Loko District is very key and well placed in the implementation of this project. “The MSSL senior outreach nurse is very much passionate and overwhelmed to dispense her duties even as the EBOLA virus is knocking on the doors of everyone that sears to fight against it. Her displayed passion for her work is a signage of all Marie Stopes’ Sierra Leone Staff, he revealed.
