Sierra Leone News:Fly Salone shuts down

flysaloneThe only direct flight from London to Freetown ‘Fly Salone’ has ceased operation and entering into liquidation, the airline posted on its website last Thursday. Fly Salone last flight with Icelandair from Freetown to London took off late Friday afternoon from the Lungi Airport and landed in London on Friday night safely, Peter Shaun Station Manager of Fly Salone in Lungi said in a phone conversation with Awoko on Saturday.
“All passengers will therefore be unable to fly with this airline as the Company will shortly be entering into Liquidation. All passengers that have paid for their bookings using Visa/Mastercard debit or credit cards should seek a refund through their bank directly,” Fly Salone stated on its website. “All other passengers will be contacted in due course with full details regarding how to make a claim which will include a claim form to complete and submit,” Fly Salone said.
The global sales agent Kevin McPhillips Travel in London posted the same announcement on its website. Karl Travel Agency, the sales agent of Fly Salone in Freetown declined to comment on the reasons for the stoppage and referred Awoko to the SSGI Managing Director in Freetown.
The SSGI Managing Director and Ministry of Transport and Aviation have refused to comment.
