Sierra Leone News: DJ Cleff alleged murder…LAC refuses to testify

dj clifBaimba Moi Foray alias LA Chocolate, together with Foday Kamara and Avril Ureh Renner have chosen not to testify in High Court.
The three accused docked for allegedly conspiring and murdering Sydney Buckle Jnr. alias DJ Cleff as sacrifice in a black magic ritual, were expected to testify in the on-going trial at the High Court on Tuesday.
Instead, they told the judge during the court session that they would rely on statements they gave to police in their defense.
In response, the High Court judge, Justice Alusine Sesay adjourned the trial to 10th August 2016 when the suspects’ defense team will make their final address based on the evidence before the court.
Most of the benches in the High Court in Freetown were filled on Tuesday, perhaps reflecting interest in the case from the general public. The suspects, Baimba Moi Foray, an infamous alleged practitioner of black magic, his bodyguard Foday Kamara, and Ureh Avril Renner sat in the center of the courtroom. Foray (LAC), dressed in a bright red and white vest and a white shirt that sparkled with gold, his facial hair neatly trimmed, consulted with members of his defense team of three lawyers several times during the proceedings.
Justice Alusine addressed each suspect, starting with LAC, and confirmed that they did not wish to testify at the trial, contrary to what their defense team had previously stated. “That ends the case,” the judge said.
The three suspects were accused of murdering Sydney Buckle Jnr.  (DJ Cleff) in May 2015.
The victim’s body was found around Murray Town by community people who assumed he had died of the ebola virus. An autopsy revealed that DJ Cleff had been murdered.
The matter is being prosecuted by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Sulaiman Bah and Hindolo M Gevao teamed up with the defence team including Ishmael Phillip Mammie and Pius Sesay.
