The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have recently placed fifty million Leones (Le 50m) for any one who will give information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator(s) involved in the brutal killing of the former Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Samuel O Williams.
It could be recalled the former CDS was murdered by an unknown person at his Devil Hole residence on the 22nd December 2016 at around 3am.
Speaking to the Deputy Head of Media and Public Relation of the SLP, Inspector Michael Kelly Dumbuya, he maintained that they have been making frantic effort in trying to apprehend the killer(s) since the date of the incident.
“As a responsible institution the Inspector General of Police, Francis Alieu Munu, thought it fit to put at stake the sum of Le 50 million Leones for whosoever that will provide us with vital information as to how to get to the perpetrators” he said.
Responding to question relating to police delay in the investigation of the matter, he disclosed that the investigation of such matter is very sensitive, “investigation is a process and not an event” adding that they will not just jump into an investigation like they are just doing something without any aims and objectives.
He maintained that they have very intelligent investigators working on the matter currently so as to get to the bottom of it, explaining that they are hopeful with the help of the community people they will definitely get something fruitful at the end of the entire investigation.
The Deputy Head of the SLP Media stated that they have been getting the full cooperation of the general public in other matters which is why they are pretty sure of getting vital information about the death of the former CDS and putting such an amount of money is a normal procedure to motivate and encourage the public to help.
“There is no way we can reach the murderer(s) without the full cooperation of members of the public that also help immensely in putting the issue of gangsterism under control which was about threatening national peace quiet recently” he maintained.
Inspector Dumbuya maintained that they would continue to abide by the procedure of keeping the identity of anyone helping the police with vital information leading to arrest of the perpetrator(s), assuring members of the public about police presence in ensuring peace and stability throughout the country, as people should continue to go about their normal activities without any fear.
