Sierra Leone News: Following Monday SLPP court saga…Accused plead guilty of possessing offensive weapon

Larry Thomas Williams on Tuesday pleaded guilty of possessing a black handle knife along George street in Freetown during the on- going Sierra Leone Peoples Party court matter on Monday.
Police file disclosed that the accused is a security personnel to one of the SLPP flag- bearers, Alpha Timbo pointing out that on that day in question, the accused had an understanding that the pa’opa group will be coming during the court setting in which his boss, Alpha Timbo was going to attend and therefore used a black handle knife as a defence weapon.
The accused further disclosed to the police that after the court proceeding, he was identified as a security to Alpha Timbo by a group of youth and during such interval he had an argument with the said youths in which he was eventually arrested by the police.
During his plea for mitigation; the accused explained to the court that he understands that the charge levied against him is a state crime stating that the weapon was only a defensive means as he is a security personnel working for a private security firm.
Meanwhile the accused was fined a sum of four hundred thousand Leone or to serve a prison term of four months by Magistrate Binneh Kamara whilst the knife has been in the possession of the Sierra Leone police.
