Former Women’s Leader of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Madam Isata Jabbie Kabba has condemned the actions of the Prince Harding led executive, which she described as unconstitutional.
Speaking to Awoko recently, Madam Kabba said she was very disappointed with the actions of the parallel executive noting that people with high calibre and education will bring themselves so low to disrepute.
She added that the SLPP is a family since its establishment and no individual or group of persons, because of personal interest or benefit will intimidate other people within the party.
“I am SLPP all the way and politics is all about numbers, and because people come from different background, political tolerance should be the foundation for anyone to have space to contest for any position and not to intimidate them”.
Isata Kabba emphasised the need for political tolerance, noting that it is healthy for transparency, giving people the opportunity to choose or elect who to represent them, which is a sign of true and better democracy.
She called on all party members to see reason and accept that, until the party hold its convention, Chief Somano Karpen is still and remains the SLPP Chairman and Leader.
Questioned on her take on the actions taken by the Karpen led executive to expel and suspend some members of the party, Madam Kabba responded that Chief Karpen is the sole custodian of the party’s constitution of 1995, and if members of the National Executive Council (NEC) think that the members behaved otherwise, it is but fitting to take the necessary and appropriate action, in order to bring sanity to the party, for people to realise that a selected few cannot dictate and impose their will on the people.
