The head of Sport and Assistant Chief of Defence Staff for training and doctrine in the Republic of Sierra Leone Army Forces (RSLAF) Brigadier General Michael Samura told press men that they feel highly honoured over the visit of the Secretary General of the International Military Sport Council (CISM) Colonel Dorah Mamby Koita.
Brigadier General Samura asserted that the visit of Guinean born Colonel Dorah Mamby Koita was based on the interest he has on seeing Sierra Leone as a sister country returning again to CISM as a competing military nation in the regional, continental or world military competitions.
He furthered that Colonel Koita deemed it fit to pay the one day visit to Sierra Leone in order to crosscheck the reasons for being out of Military competition since 1977 and to map out the way forward that will motivate the RSLAF to reactivate their participation.
He added that they made good use of his one day visit by ensuring he meets with key stakeholders in Sports like the National Olympic Committee and the National Sport Council as well as other government partners.
“His visit to Sierra Leone was a step in the right direction. This has actually inspired us to concentrate on building formidable army teams in the various sporting discipline to represent us in all CISM competitions.”
We are very proud of him holding such position in the world federation as not only an African but someone from neighbouring Guinea, Brigadier General Samura said.
