Sierra Leone Cricket Association’s selection panel chose 14 players to represent Sierra Leone at the One-Day International tournament of ICC/World Cricket League, Africa Division One, in South Africa in April. Never before has any Sierra Leonean team played in this prestigious tournament.
Sierra Leone will field a blend of youthful and experienced players. Lead by the superb bowling of Lansana Lamin and Mohamed Khan and strong batting from Emmanuel Kamara, the 14-man squad feels confident.
Technical Director, Michael Kargbo, said, “I am certain we have selected a very good team which will do the country proud. If they play to our game plan of batting all 50 overs, I am quite sure we will do very well. I have high hopes for this team and I believe they can do something exceptional”.
Chairman for Sierra Leone Cricket Association, Board of Directors, Beresford Bournes-Coker, said, “You were selected based on performance standards. To ensure you have a good tour with the national team you have to go the extra mile to improve your physical ability and technical knowhow in the area of bowling, batting and fielding”.
Nine of the selected players are from league leaders, Mid-West Cricket Club. Three players were selected from second place RSLAF and two from Old Edwardians.
