The Queen’s Baton will finally arrive in Freetown today, Wednesday 15th March 2017 at Lungi International airport.
The Queen’s Baton delegation will be received by representatives of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) and the Paramount Chief of Kafu Bullom. A cultural display and short ceremony will welcome the Baton and Commonwealth Games representatives.
The Queen’s Baton delegation will then move to Aberdeen and be welcomed by the President Commonwealth Games Association (CGA), Dr. Patrick Coker who also doubles as President of the National Olympic Committee.
On Thursday 16th March 2017, the relay will start in Freetown beginning at the Freetown City Council at 10 a.m. The baton will visit Mayor Bode Gibson and then head to Standard Chartered Bank. The Baton will then travel to State House, the National Museum and other places.
On Friday 17th March 2017 some athletes from various disciplines will join the tour of the Baton as they relay run around Freetown. The delegation will depart on Saturday 18th March 2017.
