The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Isha Johansen, has become the first Sierra Leonean to be elected to the CAF Executive Committee following the CAF 39th Ordinary General Assembly in Ethiopia on Thursday.
She defeated her opponent, Lydia Nsekera securing 35 votes against 12 votes.
The SLFA boss declared her intention to aspire for that position during the International Women’s Day, March 8th 2017.
In her words, “When I come onto CAF executive committee I will embrace the said change values, doing all I can to promote the continent that I am proud to be part of also further enhance the interest and importance of women in our football.”
The SLFA’s boss, Johansen, was also recently given a lofty appointment into a powerful FIFA sub-committee – the FIFA Members Association Committee.
She was elected SLFA’s boss unopposed on 3 August 2013 as the first female president in Sierra Leone and she’s also the only female Football Association president in the world.
