League leaders, team Augustine Thorpe will be playing host to Abubakarr Bangura ladies in the on-going Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) women’s T20 League at the Prince of Wales Secondary School grounds in Kingtom, Freetown on Saturday April 22nd 2017.
The ladies of Augustine Thorpe will be hoping to secure their second victory against Team Abubakarr as they whitewashed them in their earlier match in the league.
The league leaders need to gain points to maintain their position at the top of the log.
A player for team Thorpe, Janet Kowa stated: “It is a very important match. They will want to play hard against us because we defeated them in our first match. But we will play as usual so that we win the match and defend our position as leaders on the league table”.
On the other hand, Team Abubakarr ladies will be playing the match with an expectation of revenge against Team Thorpe to show them that they have players that are capable of beating them.
Team Abubakarr Captain Linda Bull averred; “We have the advantage of winning this match. Our advantage is that we played two matches in the past days whilst they were resting.
“We lost against Albert Kpundeh last Saturday and won against them in the return fixture on Wednesday. That shows we are physically fit to play Team Thorpe”.
We know the importance of this match and we are desperately looking forward to win the match, “she said.
Bull added: “Augustine Thorpe is a very good team. We played against them in the previous match very well but they were lucky”.
“But, we will surely defeat them based on what we’ve gathered. We’ve seen them play and we now know their weakness which we will definitely capitalize on, “she asserted.
Meanwhile, Team Abubakarr recorded their first victory in the league against Albert Kpundeh ladies with 7 wickets during their second round match played on Wednesday April 19th 2017 at the Prince of Wales Secondary School ground.
