Sierra Leone News: 3,000 families benefit from Ramadan support

As part of their Ramadan celebrations, the Africa Muslim Agency (AMA) has distributed €1,000 of food to 3,000 families in Kenema, Kailahun, Lungi, Port Loko, and Kossoh Town in the Western Area, Kono, Bombali and Tonkolili.
The food included; 3,000 bags of 25 kilograms rice, 3,000 gallons of cooking oil, 300 bags of 50 kilograms sugar, dates (tarmaroo), used clothes and 600 cartons of sardines.
The National Secretary General for AMA, Abu Bakarr Jabbie, described this year’s nationwide food distribution as one that targets both Muslims and Christians pointing that their Agency is one that knows no tribe, colour nor religion.
The Country Director of Africa Muslim Agency, Kemamine Ahmed, said their agency targets the needy, the poor and amputees pointing that every year the mission, through their donors in Kuwait, try as much they can to ensure more people are provided with food.
The Bombali District Chief Imam who doubled also as Chief Imam for Makeni Central Mosque, Alhaji Mohamed Lamin Koroma, thanked the Agency and its donor partners for their relentless efforts in feeding the needy and vulnerable people in that part of the country especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
One of the beneficiaries in Makeni, Ramatu Koroma, a widow, expressed her appreciation to the agency for their humanitarian gestures stating that life had not been that good for her after the death of her husband. She said the food distribution was timely because according to her, their house had gone days without food even though they were not fasting.
