Sierra Leonean-American basketball player, Robert Konteh, fondly called Park, has joined the ranks of professional players after signing a contract with Cojutepeque Basketball Club to play in the El Salvador Basketball League.
Cojutepeque is a basketball club that competes in the Major League Basketball of El Salvador.
Konteh’s extraordinary robust defensive play for the Marauders over the last two seasons was one major factor that lead Cojutepeque to secure his signature.
The Central State University (CSU) graduate is recognized for his shot blocking and rebounding skills, his averaged 4.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting over 50% from the field in his two years at Central State, Ohio.
Konteh transferred to Central State University (CSU) after playing on the junior college level at Cecil College (MD) and Harford Community College (MD). His combined junior college averages were highlighted by 9.6 rebounds per game and 2.7 blocks per game.
Throughout his entire collegiate career, he totalled 714 rebounds and 180 blocks.
After signing his contract, which terms are undisclosed, the 6’9” centre said he will not take the opportunity for granted; instead, he will work extremely hard to perform at his best.
Park remarked, “This is a great opportunity to continue my career; hopefully, this is just the begging of a long career in basketball”.
Due to his leadership quality, he served as Co-Captain for Varsity team in 2012 and he was the deserving awardee of the ‘Team Leadership Award’ in 2012.
Konteh was born on December 29, 1994, in New York, to Sierra Leonean parents Isata Tarawally and Daniel Konteh. He has four brothers (Alpha and Ibrahim Kamara and Daniel and David Konteh) and two sisters (Hawa and Alfina Konteh).
