Sierra Leone Entertainment: CMF provides Le10m scholarship for mudslide, flood orphans

Renowned Child Activist, fashion designer and founder of the Children Media Foundation (CMF), Saidu Paul has provided a Le10m scholarship for children who are affected by the August 14th mudslide and flood in Freetown. On Tuesday, Paul also donated relief items to affected kids at Regent and Kaningo, Lumley, the two major disaster affected areas. In an interview with Paul, the young lad explained that he is passionate about children affairs and seeing children in such deplorable and traumatic state saddens him. He explained that children are the most venerable especially when they lose their relations in such tragedy. “They need great care their minds are in fragile state,” he noted.
Paul explained that 15 kids in Kaningo were registered as beneficiaries of the scholarship, while 57 kids were identified and registered at Regent. He also explained that the money is at the Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), noting that in order to access the fund, the beneficiaries need to go to the bank with a guardian and a proof of identification. He said it’s a one year scholarship that covers tuition. Paul considered his offer as the widow’s mite, stressing, “I wish I could do more.”
