Sierra Leone Entertainment: Hotel and Tourism Association present Le23m relief for survivors

The president of Hotel and Tourism Association, Tamba Allieu Kokobaye yesterday presented a Le 12 million cheque and relief items valued approximately Le. 20million to Vice President Victor Bockarie Foh.
The cheque and the relief items is meant to aid the government in its drive to provide both short and long term support for survivors of the August 14 mudslide and flooding that left over 400 decease, scores missing and hundreds homeless.
Presenting the cheque at the VP’s Tower Hill office, Kakobaye said they are greatly sadden by the lose noting that they deemed it necessary to contribute in order to help the government it its drive to help remedy the plight of the survivors.
The Minister of Tourism, Sidi Yahya Tunis said the association is part of the hotel, tourism and hospitality sector noting that they are all struck by the August 14th disaster. we at the tourism industry as pretty much at the receiving end we also recover so many dead bodies over 60 we found from the beach alone together with other body part at the coast line. being an industry that is very much vital to the economic development of Sierra Leone we are sadden deemed it necessary to register our sympathy by donating to assist the government’s relief effort.
Receiving the cheque, VP Foh said that the donation they made it is not small at all because the idea behind the donation comes straight from the heart. He said government is trying to find a lasting solution by building more permanent structure that would prevent future calamities.
The VP also encourage the minister to push the industry to the hinterlands noting that there are historic sites in Sierra Leone which can offer good touristic sites to people coming in to the country.
