The Public Relations Officer of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Ibrahim Kamara has said that FIFA and CAF have certified Sierra Leone referee Billy Konneh as one the referees selected across Africa to officiate in this year West African Football Union (WAFU) tourney hosted in Ghana.
Konneh who is one of the top referees in Sierra Leone (Based in Bo) departed for Ghana on Tuesday 5th September 2017 and he is expected to perform the role of an assistant referee in the West African Nations tourney.
Receiving the air ticket from the General Secretary of the Sierra Leone Football Association Chris Kamara at the SLFA secretariat, Billy Konneh expressed his great delight and appreciation to SLFA for ensuring they the referees in the country are given these kinds of opportunities to be exposed in big competitions in Africa. Billy further promised the SLFA and the entire nation that he is going to represent the little six million people in Sierra Leone and he will do that to the best of his ability and professionalism to raise the country flag and not the other way
Bidding farewell to referee Billy Konneh, Chris Kamara encouraged him and the other referees to ”always be focussed on their professional growth as the SLFA through the referees department at the Secretariat, will continue to provide referees with professional FIFA and CAF trainings to enable them be exposed in international tourney at FIFA and CAF level”
