Mohamed Papa Bangura, Head of Media and Marketing for the Ernest Bai Koroma Trophy, said the people of the Eastern cities of Kenema and Kono received the Ernest Bai Koroma Trophy over the weekend with joy and called for more teams to be included from their region
He said the Ernest Bai Koroma Trophy, which was founded by Hon. Chernor Maju Bah in 2010, reaches the Eastern Region for the first time with two teams taking part in this year’s EBK trophy the people of Kenema and Kono on Sunday 22nd October celebrated a popular victory as the Kenema Kawula Rangers defeated Marampa stars of Lunsar 2-1 and Kono SKY Eagles defeated Bombali Sebroa FC 1-0 in Makeni.
The CEO of Kawula Rangers, Eric Kitel, said the coming of the EBK in their Region is a blessing especially to young players who have been without competition for too long. He said Kenema is a place where people love football so much but for far too long they have been deprived from playing and watching the game. “The EBK trophy came at the right time for us and our boys because we are building a team and we needed to play more games.
