Sierra Leone Entertainment: AWOL goes Global ahead of National Achievement Awards

One of Sierra Leone charitable organization known as All Works Of Life (AWOL), with its membership drawn from among citizens from various calling of life has gone global. Since it was formed and officially launched in 2001 by late President Kabba to date the organization membership has grown from within the country and reached to the United States of American, United Kingdom, Australia, The Gambia, Guinea, Canada and Continental Europe.
According to the National Secretary General of AWOL, Ahmed SahidNasralla, said with their motto, “Put Salone Fos,” their organization is non-politicaldevelopment group with 16 years of outstanding performance in the area of humanitarian assistance to victims of disasters.
The Secretary said their annual June 16 schools feeding and distribution of learning materials program had been a significant brand label for the organization. He said their expansion came as a result of the solid foundation and morale value upon which the organization was formed in ensuring they embark on community development projects, search and create innovative solutions to support the deprived and that of their annual National Achievement Awards.
It could be recalled that past Friday AWOL unveiled the National Achievement Awards committee to members of the press and the public respectively. The annual awards were for the first time interrupted after death of the founder and first national chairman, MoserayFadika, believed to be the pioneer of the National Awards.
Two years after the organization has launched and called for nomination of persons, institutions, financial institutions, media houses and outstanding personalities among many, to be vet and awards in the 25 categories.
The Secretary General said nominations of people and institutions in the 25 categories are been open for the public that according to him will be close on 24th November. He said after the public nominations members of the committee will collate all and come out with 3 best nominees from each category.
Nasralla said the public will finally vote from the 3 nominees within 14 days starting from 1-14 December via an Africel short code 3344 pointing that, all the public need to do during the nomination period is to write the name of the individual or institution to be nominated, category and short comment on why he/she deserves to be awarded and sent to short code 3-3-4-4. The secretary went on that all public-voting accounts for 60percent whiles the committee have 40 percent.
