NASSIT wins three awards

The International Social Security Association (ISSA) has recognized the effort of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) by awarding them with three awards during the Regional Social Security Forum for Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The ceremony started from the 23 to 25 October 2017 on the theme “excellence in social security in Africa”.
This year conference attracted over 360 participants from 75 member’s organization in 45 countries mainly Chief Executive Officers and senior officers of ISSA.
The awards were presented by the Secretary General of ISSA Hans-Horst Konkolewsky covered practices developed and implemented by NASSIT. Among the practices developed and implemented by NASSIT are application of provision to increase pension right, compliance enforcement strategies and enhancing record management system.
On Thursday 16 November 2017, the management and staff of NASSIT presented the accolades at their headquarters on Walpole Street in Freetown. The Director General of NASSIT, Joseph Saidu Mans, said, “NASSIT is one of the youngest social security institution in Sub Saharan Africa, but our performance over the years in terms of coverage, fund development and application of international standards of practice, has impressed ISSA so much that we were able to win three awards,” Mans said.
Director Mans said a total of 70 entries were received from ISSA, from 30 members’ institutions in 21 Africa countries. “I am pleased to informed you that NASSIT was not only among the few institutions that won awards, but was also amongst the top three that won more than two awards in the same year.”
