The management of Silvaortus, an agriculture company in the eastern region, has on Sunday 26 November 2017 unveiled its none division football club to senior football stakeholders and sports journalists in the township of Kenema district.
The unveiling ceremony attracted a huge number of football enthusiasts at their headquarters on Hangha Road.
Speaking at the briefing, the Company’s Chairman, Michael Hinnman, pointed out that they decided to establish Silveortus Football Club due to the huge interest exhibited by youths within the area.
Noting, as part of their corporate social responsibility they deemed it necessary to help popularize the game by giving local football players in Kenema district the best opportunity to play good football under their management.
Hinnman said another reason for their decision to form the club is to make the activities of the company business-friendly to its customers and stakeholders. Claiming the company will do all in its powers to ensure the club becomes one of the best in the country within the next five years.
“We want to assure our partners that we are here to say. We are not just forming this team to play football around, we are planning big for the players and we will ensure they play top flight league in the country. We have a well-structured administration that will be running the affairs of the club,” said the chairman.
Hinnman commented, “We are not eager to play competitions at the moment. We want to build a formidable side that will be trained by quality coaches probably for the next one year before we begin to register for competitions around the township. But we will be engaging other teams in friendly matches to test the boys”.
The company’s Logistic Officer who also doubles as Chief Executive Officer of the club, Umarr Fuad Bawoh, highlighted the activities they’ve undertaken and those that the company will be embarking on and as well as the long term vision of the club.
According to the CEO, efforts are underway to have the players properly transferred and other administrative issues arranged for proper operations.
CEO Bawoh went further unveiled the club’s technical staff headed by ex-player of Kamboi Eagles and Gem Stars Football Clubs, Alfred Oga Pious and other members of the executive.
