Sierra Leone: 250 RMB Chinese Grant for Salone

President Ernest Bai Koroma on Friday disclosed that the People’s Republic of China has made a grant of 250RMB to Sierra Leone for development projects.
He said this while explaining to Journalists the goodies he brought home from China during his visit on 24th June to 1st July 2013.

Koroma said that during his visit he had three engagements with the political leadership, private sector and attended the World Peace Forum. He said he had a meeting with the President of China at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, where both countries committed their increasing cooperation and mutual support meeting common aspirations for peace, development and reform of the United Nations in 1971.
He said during their meeting the Chinese President Xi Jinping made an offer of 250 Million RMB grant to Sierra Leone for development projects which the government seeks to implement.
The President said that the Chinese President also reiterates their support for the construction of a new Airport and a centre of excellence for youths.
President Koroma said he also held meeting with over 20 state and private sector institutions including the China Export and Import Bank (EXXIM Bank) and sought investment and cooperation in energy, tourism, water and sanitation, agriculture and infrastructural.
Also contained in the MOU is capacity building with short term training in China for civil servants,Police and military personnel.
He said he also visited the inner Mongolia region in Northern China and also toured the Kingho Energy Group facilties. Also the Kingho Group is to invest Le6.1billion dollars in Tonkolili mining.
The President visited the Southern Province of Hainan where a memorandum of Understanding for the development of a rubber plantation and factory in the Tonkolili and Moyamba District was signed between the government of Sierra Leone and the Hainan State Rubber company.
He also delivered a keynote address at the World Peace Forum at Tsinghua University.
