Sierra Leone News: Sam Sumana re-surfaces as Presidential aspirant

On Monday 8 January 2017, party members and supporters of the Coalition for Change (C4C) welcomed their interim presidential aspirant, former Vice President Sam Sumana back to Freetown.
Sumana arrived at the Party’s head office on Wilkinson Road after being delayed at the Lungi Airport around 7:30 p.m. and described his homecoming as a time for a shift in governance in the history of Sierra Leone.
“My homecoming is a moment for a positive change with selfless, visionary and transformational leadership,” he noted. “The C4C strive towards putting the nation first ahead of individual interests for the betterment of the country at large.”
Sam Sumana was elected alongside the current APC President, Ernest Koroma, in 2007 and again in 2012. He lead the APC government as VP for almost seven years before being removed from the Party and thereby the Office of Vice President.
“Enough is enough. Our people are being humiliated. Enough is the senseless attacks. The time has come when Sierra Leoneans have the opportunity to change the leadership of this country and that change which Sierra Leone needs is the C4C,” according to Sumana.
The former Vice President said, “We are in no short supply of natural resources. We are in no short supply of human resources but we are in short supply of adequate and qualitative leadership.”
On Tuesday 9 January 2018, the C4C will hold their national convention to elect their Party officials and appoint or choose Sumana as flag-bearer. The convention will be held at Cadco Hotel, off Wilkinson Road, near Lumley.
