Sierra Leone Sports: WAFRA to hold a two-day instructor course

Western Area Referees Association (WAFRA) will be holding a two-day local referee instructor’s course at the referee’s room in the main bowl of the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 January 2018.
The Technical Instructor, Alhaji Sanusi Rashid, and Physical Fitness Instructor Mohamed B. Freeman, will both be in charge of the two-day course which is expected to be attended by all class 3 referees including female participants who are more encourage to register their participation.
According to one of WAFRA’s Local Instructor, Anabi Yusufu Kamara, he said the reason for organizing such course, is to train senior and retired football referees on the laws of the game, match reporting, game management, and commissioning.
The training, he added will help to refresh and widen the knowledge of the participants on match officiating and it will also assist them to interpret the laws of the game better, as they are working towards improving refereeing in the Western Area where bulky of the senior referees resides.
Technical Instructor, Alhaji Sanusi Rashid said the course will encompass theoretical and practical aspects which will keep the participants busy. Saying, it is very important to keep the referees abreast with the rules to that they will also be in line with the current trend of refereeing in the world.
“We are expecting huge turnout of referees to attend and participate with all seriousness in this very important course. As referees, they know the value of such courses and how educative it can be to them especially on the area of match reporting and the rules of the game which are very significant components in officiating,” said the Technical Instructor, Alhaji Sanusi Rashid
