Sierra Leone News: Alleged fake doctor in Court

Solomon Adikali Kamara was arrested on 26 January 2018 and charged for allegedly pretending to be a medical practitioner.
He made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura, at the Siaka Stevens Street Magistrate Court in Freetown on Wednesday 31 January 2018, to answer to two counts of Wilfully Pretending to be a Medical Doctor and Forgery contrary to the Medical and Surgeon Act of 1994 and the Forgery Act of 1913.
According to the police, on 26 December 2017, at Pentagon in Freetown, the accused pretended to be a medical practitioner with intent to defraud. The accused allegedly forged a student certificate from the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, University of Sierra Leone. The accused purported that the said document was prepared and signed by the former Minister of Health and Sanitation, Dr. Zainab Bangura.
His defence counsel, Victor T. Biandoma, applied that the accused be put on bail. However the prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Hawa Bah, objected to the application on grounds that the accused had no fixed address on his charge sheet which makes him a flight risk. The application was refused and the accused was remanded at the Correctional Centre. The matter was adjourned to 5 February 2018.
