Sierra Leone Sports: Summer City wins Camp DIVA final

Emmanuel Samadia was the star of the day as he inspired Summer City FC to defeat Ascentontonians FC 1 – 0 in the grand final of the 13th edition Camp DIVA Youth Championship at the Siaka Steven Stadium main bowl on Sunday 10 June 2018.
The young star, Samadia, scored the only goal in the 10 minutes of play in the first half, after he received a brilliant pass from one of the twins, Alusine and beat the defenders of Ascentonians FC cleverly and sent the ball at the top of the roof which left goalkeeper Abdulai Bah wondering.
Summer City not only proved to be the better team in the final by dominating their opponent throughout the match despite the reinforcement made by Ascentonians FC whom brought in players like the former Leone Stars skipper, Ibrahim Obreh Kargbo, Prince Barrie and more but also had their revenge from the 3- 1 defeat they faced in the group stages.
Summer City head coach, Samuel Cole, said he was very excited for winning the final. ”I am very excited for winning the final because this is our debut season in the competition and we won against the only team that defeated us in the entire competition in the group stage,” he said. ”We came into to the match with one mind which is to seek our revenge against Ascentonians and win the final. Samadia maintained, ”I am very happy to score the only goal in the final and to win not only the man of the match but also the tournament’s best player. Ascentonians defender, Samuel Ballay said their opponent deserved to win final because his side failed get in the entire match which he said cost them the final. ”We are responsible for the defeat but that is football, let me congratulate Summer City FC for winning the championship,” he stated.
The champion, Summer City FC were presented with the giant golden trophy plus Eight Million Leones (Le 8m) cash prize and certificate, while the runner up, Ascentonians received a cash prize of Four Million Leones certificate.
The chairman of Camp DIVA Youth Football Association (CaDYFA) said the competition is a success despite his association failed to secure sponsorship and went further to expressed gratitude to the media, the electronic, the print and television for their wonderful support towards the 13th edition Camp DIVA Youth championship.
