Sierra Leone News: NP responds to Press Secretary’s utterances

National Petroleum Company (NP) has taken great exception to the utterances of State House Press Secretary, Yusuf Keketoma Sandi, on Tuesday 10 July 2018, Good Morning Salone program over 98.1 Radio Democracy.
He averred that petroleum products worth more than $3 million USD were exported to neighboring Liberia in December 2017 and February 2018 allegedly to exploit the difference in price.
The General Manager of NP, Kobi Waulker said they have never exported petroleum products to Liberia or any other country to make profit on the difference in prices.
“NP is a privately owned company that is a very responsible corporate oil marketing company that conducts business in strict compliance with industry regulations as set forth by Government and our supervisory agency.”
He called on the State House Press Secretary to cross check his facts before making baseless, unfounded and unsubstantiated statements that have the propensity of not only engendering public disaffection towards their brand as well as smearing the hard-earned corporate image of the company.
NP is a Sierra Leonean company that has grown to expand in West Africa including Liberia, Guinea and Ivory Cost. Waulker said that in all these countries they are operating each subsidiary is responsible for importing their own product and no product is supplied to them from other subsidiary.
“NP has stood the test of time and has been growing in leaps and bounds and today the company has over 30 stations and counting across the country. We hope to continue our good work and as a private company we will continue to keep it that way.”
