Sierra Leone Sports: Salone wins silver medal in ECOWAS Wrestling Championship

The head coach of the Sierra Leone Wrestling association Abdul Rahman Sesay has disclosed that Mohamed Bundu who represented the country in the heavy weight category in the just concluded ECOWAS traditional Wrestling Championship in Niger has won a Silver medal.
Bundu lost to his Senegalese opponent in the final.
He said as a coach he is very happy because the constraints were too much but at the end all the four athletes performed well. The other three were unfortunate and did not win any medal.
Bundu says he was happy to bring the medal home and hopes to bring more medals home from other international competitions.
Niger’s Youths and Sports Minister, Kassoum Moctar, in his opening statements said sports is a school of justice, fraternity and friendship”. The Minister also charged participants to maximize the opportunity offered by the games to reinforce the fraternal spirit, which distinguishes the sporting African youth.
Moctar called on stakeholders to work towards the establishment of sport, especially wrestling academies.
In a message to the ceremony, the Commissioner for Social Affairs and Gender, Dr. Siga Fatima Jagne, called on stakeholders to “invest in a strategic reflection in order to come up with resource mobilization schemes” that will enable the ECOWAS Community to offer to its citizenry “the best framework for the expression of our African values through sports”.
Also in the Commissioner’s speech, read by the Director of the ECOWAS Youth and Sports Development Centre (EYSDC), Francis Chuks Njoaguani, Dr. Jagne commended Member States who regularly participate in the games fondly called TOLAC in the francophone countries and especially Niger and Senegal for co-hosting CAWT in their countries.
