Sierra Leone Sports: Salone swimmer qualifies for Youth Olympic Games

The Technical Director of Sierra Leone Swimming and Diving Association, Victor Carew, said that Sierra Leone junior Swimmer Joshua J.J. Wyse has qualified for the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires later this year.
He stated that Joshua JJ Wyse swam the 50m Freestyle event in 29.71 secs in the African Youth Games in Algiers last month.
The Secretary General of the Association, Mohamed Turay, said Joshua first represented the country at the 3rd CANA Zone 2 Jnr Swimming Championships in Lagos, 34.37 secs, in October last year and in the 6th CANA Zone 2 Senior Swimming Championships. 31.02 secs in Dakar in May this year.
He stated, Wyse is getting better with every competition and he’s improving his times, which is good for him.
Coach Sheku Conteh said he is proud that his swimmer has improved rapidly since representing the country in Nigeria and for being able to achieve the qualifying time for the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires in October this year.
In closing, Coach Sheku Conteh thanked the Executive Committee of the SLSDWA for the confidence imposed on him by appointing him as Head Coach of the Swim Team Sierra Leone.
Joshua Wyse said he was happy to qualify for such games and hopes to do more so that he will make the country proud.
