Sierra Leone Sports: NPC–SLE meets CICA Sierra Leone

The National Paralympics Committee of Sierra Leone (NPC-SLE) on Thursday 5 July 2018 met with CICA Motors Sierra Leone, which represents Toyota worldwide, at the company’s Bai Bureh Road office in Freetown.
In that meeting were the Chief Executive Officer, Nada Dadson, Sales Manager, Arthur Kobina Ben-Carew, from CICA and a cross section of the executive of NPC-SLE.
In his presentation, the President of NPC-SLE, Unisa Deen Kargbo, noted some major breakthroughs in the growth of paralympics sports in the country. He said in the past six months both Zainab Wilson and Alhassan Kamara attended a classification and officiating course on Para-Powerlifting which took place in Nigeria.
And athlete George Wyndham took part in the proud Paralympian course held in Morocco. Kargbo said the development has motivated lots of disabled athletes.
He further pointed out that they are preparing four athletes to take part in the African Para-Powerlifting competition to be held in Algeria in August.
He also said they have invited a Nigerian coach to assist developing the athletes and also a Blind Football course will be held in Freetown in January next year. Kargbo also disclosed that NPC annual congress will be held in September.
Whilst giving an overview of the overseas courses, George Wyndhan, noted that he was trained to inspire disabled people to get into Para Sports. And disclosed that he has started that in the country whilst Zainab Wilson said the role of classifier is to place the athletes in the group before competitions based on their health history and physical disability.
Vice president of NPC-SLE, Zainab Suma, spoke of the financial challenges facing the committee pointing out that they have been using their personal resources to move the committee.
CICA Chief Executive Officer, Nada Dadson, who was very excited to receive the committee for the second time, noted her satisfaction over the presentations and promised to communicate to the head office. She encourages the people of Sierra Leone to support the work of the NPC.
Those who attended the meeting seemed very impressed. The Executive Secretary of the NPC, Alexander Thullah (African Teacher), noted that the warm reception by CICA will go a long way to inspire them. He called on other financial institutions to follow the example.
