Sierra Leone Sports: Promoting para-sports in the East

The head coach of Para Sports in the Eastern Region, Elongima Joseph Amara, said he wants to promote Para Sports in the Eastern region. He said presently he has four Para athletes that are active and can represent the country in any international competition as they are up to the standard.
He revealed that since they started training about seven years ago they have improve a lot in terms of fitness.
He went further to boast that one of the four athletes, Brima Nelson Domawa, is in Algeria representing the country in powerlifting. The other athletes are; Aluson Gba who was the first para athlete to take part in the All Africa Games in Congo, Brazzaville. They competed in the 1,500 metres and was ranked in fourth position. He is presently in Germany training with a club. The other two athletes are George Dakowa and Brima Bangalie.
According to George Dakowa, since they started training they have achieved a lot and two of our colleagues who have represented the country in international competitions have done well so we are happy for that and we are looking for our own chances to represent the country.
The Secretary General of the Paralympics Committee of Sierra Leone, Alexander Thullah, said they are happy for the Eastern region especially Kenema. In the past two competitions they have represented the country very well.
He also revealed they want the Para Sports to grow in the country that is why the executive is doing their best to develop the sport by creating ways for Para athletes to represent Sierra Leone internationally.
