Sierra Leone News: UNIMAK welcomes 34 Guinean students

Thirty-four Guinean students from King Mo Roi the 6th University arrived at the University of Makeni (UNIMAK) on the 5 August 2018 to improve their English writing,reading and spoken English.
King Mo Roi 6th University lecturer,MoussaCamara, on 6 August 2018, praised the high level of hospitality displayed by staff and students of UNIMAK. Camarasaid to partner with UNIMAK is a step in the right direction for the human resource development of Guinea and Sierra Leone.
Earlier this year, the founder of King Mo Roi 6th University signed a partnership agreement with UNIMAK to cooperate in academia and development. The signing of the agreement was described as the beginning of a new chapter in the promotion of higher education in the Mano River Union. This is the first time UNIMAK has partnered with a Francophone University in the West African Sub Region since its inception in 2009.
Dean of Commerce and Management, Victoria Iheanacho, admonished the students of King Mo Roi 6th University to be steadfast in their ambition to write and speak English well. Iheanachosaid, “I am happy to hear that majority of past students who attended the training gained meaningful employment upon their return to Guinea when they completed the one month period at UNIMAK.”
Guinea is a French speaking country in West Africa that shares a long boundary with Sierra Leone. This is the third year for students of the King Mo Roi 6th University to attend UNIMAK. The students from Guinea will attend UNIMAK for a month and head back to Guinea at the beginning of September 2018.
Accounting Science student SoryKeita said the UNIMAK environment is good for learning. “There is no noise on campus. The environment is quiet,” he said. Keita said the English Language lecturers have the skills and experience to help us learn.
Linguistic student, Mabinty Camara, praised the organization and professional skills of lecturers at UNIMAK. “They organized an orientation for us. Everything is formally done.”Camara explained she is confident of increasing her knowledge and ability in public speaking.
