Sierra Leone News: Accused Klymax Klub members in Court

On Monday 24 September 2018, Francis Manfida, Dennis Holland, Lawrence Lahai Amara, Mukeh Foh, Abassie Sesay and David Ricott Williams made their first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura to face murder charges. According to the State, the accused persons on 14 July 2018 conspired together with unknown persons to murder Albert Madison Bio at Sorie town in Freetown. The death of Madison Bio, a student at the Fourah Bay College (FBC), University of Sierra Leone, occurred on Saturday 14 July 2018 at the campus in Freetown. The accused have been in police custody for two months before the matter was charged to Court. As lead prosecutor, A.G.M. Bockarie applied for an adjournment on the 27th September 2018 to get witnesses to testify on the matter. Defence counsel appealed with the Court for a speedy trial pointing out the time that the accused have already spent in detention. Bio allegedly died during a Klymax Klub initiation, a student cult where new members are initiated through acts of bravery, debauchery or daring. Meanwhile, an arrest warrant has been issued by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for executive members of the Klymax Klub of Fourah Bay College who allegedly killed Albert Madison Bio. The Police have declared seven people wanted for questioning. Kabba Kamara (final year student, Social Work, Ahmed Alex Ayoub (final year, social Work, Awardson Williams (LLB III), Fofi Charlay Hamilton (Year one Social Science), Julian Chigozie Labour (Year III, Political Science), Jimmy Momoh (Year two, Geology) and Ahmed Cham (LLB II).The accused are remanded at the Male Correctional Centre.
