Discussions included employment procedures, the company’s relationship with the community people and the corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects of the company in the community. The community said since the commencement of operations of the company the socio-economic conditions have improved considerably. The company currently employs 550 staff with a projection of increasing it to 800 by the end of the year. The CEO of SLIEPA and his team were taken on a conducted tour of the nursery site by Patrick Blake, Vice President and General Manager of STL and the Director of Agriculture, Andrew Brooke-Smith. They say where the pineapples will be transported for commercial planting within the next six to twelve months. The Management team of STL also explained their support to the community by providing seed rice and other planting materials for producing higher yields this year as part of their CSR project.
