Sierra Leone Sports: Acting SLFA President did not attend CAF Congress

SLFA acting President Brima Mazola Kamara

The Acting President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Brima Mazola Kamara, has said he was restricted not to attend the CAF 12th Extraordinary Congress in Sham Al Sheikh in Cairo over the weekend by security personnel at the Cairo Airport. He made this statement at a press conference on Tuesday 2 October 2018 at the Football Association at Kingtom. According to Kamara an order came from the CAF Secretary General to the security personnel. Kamara was told to change his flight and depart Cairo the following day. Kamara left Cairo the following day. Confirmation of the orders from the CAF Secretary General have not been confirmed and there was no written documentation supplied. Kamara wanted to correct some social media misinformation. Two messages went around social media. One, “CAF rejects SLFA Vice President Brima Kamara from Congress” and the second, “Sierra Leone Football Association Vice President fakes entry into congress”. He stated at no point in time was he rejected or faked entry into CAF Congress. He said he went there legally and with the full knowledge of the Sierra Leone Football Association. He revealed that both articles are untrue and a figment of the writer’s imagination. He demanded an apology from whomever wrote the social media posts. According to CAF website Sierra Leone was the only country that did not attend the Congress. According to Abubakarr Kabba, “This is a big slap to the country and someone needs to investigate. We need to get all the information and talk to CAF, the airport personnel and witnesses.
