Sierra Leone Sports: I was able to train 11 schools in Magburaka & Makeni – Coach Sesay

Coach Abdul Sesay introducing the game

Coach Abdul Koko Sesay who completed some training in schools in Magburaka and Lunsar said he was able to train 11 schools; eight in Magburaka and three in Makeni on the basics of cricket.  He said after any training he will give the opportunity to the students to play amongst themselves to get a taste for the game and at the end they will give him their feelings about the game. He also stated that any schools after the training will receive local materials use to play the game of cricket like bats, balls and stumps. He also stated that he provided some light refreshment for each school after the training, which is also a form of motivation. So even though he will not be around they will be using these materials to train and develop themselves in the game. He revealed that the training was a success as more schools in the northern region want to learn about the game but it is now left with the executive of the association to allow me to go as they provided the funding that he uses to make sure that he was able to train 11 schools. He also stated that Boys High School in Magburaka is trying very hard to have a cricket team as they have approach him in that direction and he is trying to work towards that with the schools. He said the Principals in the different schools were happy for the training  especially the Principal of St Thomas Secondary School who described the training as an eye opener for the game of cricket to come to such part of the country. Some of the students like Agnes Kamara, Unisa Sesay who went through the training said they like sports but the time spend on them were not sufficient so they are appealing to coach Sesay to come back at least for two weeks for more training.
