Sierra Leone Sports: Coach Zappa Koroma takes over Old Edwardians FC

Ahead of the much talked about and anticipated Sierra Leone Premier League season, clubs are beefing up their rosters in terms of having new executive, coaches and players. Old Edwardians FC have confirmed the appointment of former Sierra Leone international Francis Zappa Koroma as their new head coach. Reacting to the news, “Coach Zappa said he is very happy and ready to serve the club in such a capacity. This is what I like doing, I have played football and now it’s time to coach. I am happy and honoured that Old Edwardians FC has entrusted me with this huge responsibility,” he said. He added, “I hope to live up to their expectations and trust in me.” Coach Koroma is a CAF trained License A coach who was until recently serving as Head Coach of the Lumley Community team. He also holds a B and C License and is highly regarded for his contribution to football across the country. Announcing the appointment, Edward’s Chairman Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, said, “I am happy to have added him to lead the coaching staff of this great Club.” He also stated that coach Koroma will start work immediately in readiness of the expected Premier League slated to commence in December 2018. He was recently the assistant to Coach Tito Cole, during the Under-17 Total Africa Cup of Nations zonal qualifying tournament in Dakar, Senegal. In 2010, Zappa suddenly ended his playing career after sustaining a serious injury in the Vietnamese League where he was playing for Dongtan.
