Sierra Leone News: Accused of robbery and assault of neighbour

Mohamed Conteh allegedly robbed and assaulted Ibrahim Turay on 24th October 2018 along Circular Road. He was arrested and charged with two counts of Robbery with violence contrary to Section 23(1) (b) of the Larceny Act 1918 and Assault occasioning Actual Bodily Harm contrary to Section 47 of the offences against persons Act 1861. The accused on 24th October 2018 allegedly stole the victim’s ENES black mobile phone worth over Le200,000 and cash of Le250,000 and then assaulted him at his house. The victim testified at the Siaka Stevens Street Magistrate Court, that he identified the accused as his neighbour and he’s also a driver. On 24th October 2018 at around 10:00 a.m. the accused and his friends, barged into his room and ransacked the room while the other unknown persons beat him up. Conteh then took his phone and cash from his pocket and Conteh then ordered his gang to leave the room. Turay said he went and made a statement at the Police Station the next day, he was issued a medical report form for treatment and examination at Connaught Hospital. The victim said the police ordered him to call the station if he saw the accused. The accused showed up the next day and Turay handed him over to the police. Conteh has been sent on remand at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre. The matter has been adjourned to 13 November 2018.
