Sierra Leone News: Okada rider attacked and robbed in Leicester

On 7 October 2018, Abdul S. Kamara, an okada rider, was attacked by Abdulai Samura, and others in the Tree Planting neighbourhood of Leicester. Kamara had come to Model Junction at around 5:00 a.m. when Samura and his accomplice hired him to drop them off at Tree Planting.  The complainant, Kamara, requested for Le10,000 for the trip, which the accused agreed to pay. When they reached their destination, Kamara asked them for his money, and the accused could not produce the money. The accused then hit Kamara at his back and ordered him to give him all the property he had.  The “Okada” rider at that time tried to resist, but the two men grabbed him and beat him seriously and took his Techno C8 phone and Le300,000. The attackers then fled the scene. Abdul S. Kamara was immediately taken to a nearby pharmacy for first aid treatment. He reported the matter at the Mountain Division Police Station and was given a medical paper for further treatment. On Wednesday 7 October 2018, Abdulai Samura appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Magistrate Court No. 1. He was not represented in court, and was remanded with the matter adjourned to 14th October 2018.
