Sierra Leone Sports: 6 women appointed to Sierra Leone PLB

Six women have been appointed to the Sierra Leone Premier League Board, according to Alhaji Komba. He said their appointment came after consultation with the participating Premier League clubs. They reached a consensus to integrate some female football fans into the board for the 2018-19 league season. Rugiatu Sesay, Asma James, Agnes Abu, Dawn Cummings-John, Musu Pele Bangura and Rugiatu Koroma will sit on the Board. Some of the other members said they were providing the opportunity to reinforce women’s empowerment and support the mainstreaming of gender into top flight football administration. They said with all hands on deck, the new members are co-opted to strengthen gender consideration in the planning and implementation of a well-structured professional 2018-19 premier league season. Meanwhile, our strides as a board is not only limited to the elimination of discriminatory barriers against women, but to overcome the compelling task ahead of running a successful 2018-19 Sierra Leone premier league season.
