Sierra Leone News: Former NaSSIT Dep. Dir. to be subpoenaed over land dispute

The former Deputy Director of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NaSSIT) in charge of administration, Amara Kargbo, is to be invited to court over a land dispute between NaSSIT, who is the plaintiff, Rezso Energy and Construction and Ishmail Dumbuya first and second defendant, respectively. The piece of land is situated at Government wharf and the Trust has been using it as one of its pension offices. Counsel for the Plaintiff, Jah, on Monday 19 November 2018, in front of Justice Miatta Samba at the Fast Track Commercial Court at Government Wharf, Samba applied for a subpoena to be served on the former NASSIT Deputy Director. He noted, “We have been having challenges in order to invite the witness to come to Court and on that note we are craving your indulgence in order for a subpoena to be served to him.” Justice Samba gave the plaintiff the green light in order to serve the subpoena to Amara Kargbo, who is one of the plaintiff’s witnesses in this matter. She noted that they must do all they could in order to speed up their case. He advised plaintiff counsel to come with another witness if they are having difficulty in bringing the former director to court, so that they can expedite the matter. The matter was adjourned to 26 November 2018.
