Sierra Leone Sports: Banga Farm and Kissy Town play to a goalless draw in WARDFA opener

The first edition of the Western Area Rural District Football Association (WARDFA) inter-community football competition on Saturday, 1st December, 2018 kick-started at the Kissy Town playing Field between host Kissy Town versus defending champions, Banga Farm. The match, which started with a dull pace, was quick to come to life with some dazzling skills from the young talents on show with Banga Farm showing their real skill as defending champions with brilliant surging performances to get the game and the competition’s first goal. Their persistent onslaught saw them win a penalty after Allieu Kamara was fouled inside the area in the 25th minute. Dino subsequently missed his penalty giving away a chance to put his team in front. Kissy Town on the other hand, created chances of their own, but the promptness of goalkeeper Abu Bakarr Kamara stopped them, which settled the match at a draw in the first half. The second half was quite a different scenario with the match moving in a less exciting manner. Banga Farm again had the greatest opportunity to score the game’s lone goal, but striker Theo’s profligacy was quite alarming for the fans to digest. Football was at its best as young boys in their teens showed their potential as Sierra Leone’s next super stars. Head coaches of both sides expressed appreciation that the performance of their boys in such a crucial match that saw both teams securing one point as a start is important for the teams.
