Sierra Leone News: Robbery suspects sent to prison

On Wednesday 9 January 2019, Sulaiman Tarawallie and Mohamed Sorie Kargbo appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1 on Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown after police alleged that they conspired and stole Le275,840,000 from Jeremy Zhang, a Chinese national. They face two count charges of Conspiracy and Burglary and Larceny contrary to section 25(1) and 13(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916. According to the police, Tarawallie and Kargbo, on Monday 3 December 2018, at Sallieu Drive, Waterloo in the Western Area broke into Zhang’s house and stole $30,000 USD, equivalent to Le252 million, and two power saws worth $2,600 USD or Le21,840,000, and Le2 million cash. The total value of the alleged theft is Le275,840,000. Tarawallie and Kargbo were not represented in Court and denied bail. The matter was adjourned to Tuesday 15 January 2019.
