Sierra Leone Sports: 10 youth clubs to participate in Mercury Cricket league

The Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association, Daniel Koroma, has said that 10 youth clubs will compete in the Mercury Youth Cricket League 2019. He stated that the league will start on Saturday 12th January 2019 with two matches playing in two different venues. At the Kingtom oval, Kent Youth Cricket club will battle against Olympics Youth Cricket club, while at the Prince of Wales School, Old Prince Waleans Youth Cricket club will battle against Mid West Youth Cricket Club. The Chief Executive Officer of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association, Francis Samura, said as part of the Sierra Leone cricket Association’s preparation for the 2019 season, they are holding a meeting of referees for coaches, umpires and scorers. They are also meeting with the teams to discuss rules and regulations under the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the ICC Africa. All officials of the teams listed in the fixtures of the Sierra Leone cricket youth club league to commence on Saturday 12th January 2019 were also invited to a pre-tournament meeting on Thursday 10th January 2019. The Disciplinary Officer of the Association, Abubakarr Kargbo, said the grounds must be prepared 1 hour before the start of play. Umpires must be on the ground 45 minutes before the start of play and clubs must be on the ground 1 hour before the start of play. The Clubs are Mid-West, Kent, Olympic, Crusaders, Wanderers, Police, Old Edwardians, Albert Academy, and Non Descript Youth Cricket Club.
