Sierra Leone Sports: Premier League Clubs to receive more Gov’t subsidy

The Premier League Board (PLB) said that the registered clubs will receive another cheque of subsidies when the league enters it second phase. They made this statement after the Board issued Le50 million to each Premier League Club. The PLB say they are committed to transparency and accountability in the running of the Sierra Leone Premier League (SLPL). The Board, on Monday 4th February 2019, issued cheques for Le50,000,000 each to the 13 participating Premier League Clubs as subsidies for the running of their club activities. The clubs are expected to use the subsidies judiciously for the efficient running of their daily activities. A member of the media team for the PLB, Festus J. Lahai, who also works for the Ministry of Sport, said the Rokel Commercial Bank (RCB), on Thursday, 31 January 2019 presented a cheque for Le15 million to the Chair of the Sierra Leone Premier League Board, Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai. Receiving the cheque on behalf of the Premier League Board (PLB), Abdulai said he is grateful to the management of RCB for their support in reviving the process of Sierra Leone football. He promised that the PLB will use every dime of the money presented for the league’s use.
