Sierra Leone News: Accused jailed for alleged robbery with aggravation

On 26th December 2018, Amadu Kabbah, allegedly threatened Sheriff Sillah with a rusty cutlass and stole his money and other properties. The accused was charged with robbery and robbery with aggravation. Testifying before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1 at Siaka Stevens Street, Detective Sergeant Christiana Jackson of the Criminal Investigation Department at the Central Police Station in Freetown said she recognised the complainant Sheriff Sillah when he reported a robbery on the 26th December 2018. She said the accused was arrested and brought to the Central Police Station together with the rusty cutlass. She issued the complainant with a police medical request form and the complainant returned the next day with an endorsed medical request form. The witness said that she obtained a statement from the complainant and one witness. CID Sergeant Mohamed Kamara took a statement from the accused. On 4th January 2019, they charged the accused with conspiracy to commit a felony, robbery with aggravation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and being found in possession of a harmful weapon. Magistrate Bangura remanded the accused at the Male Correctional Centre at Pademba Road in Freetown and adjourned the matter 11 February 2019.
