Sierra Leone Sports: SLCA announce players for ICC U-19 World Cup qualifier

The Secretary General of Sierra Leone Cricket Association {SLCA) said the technical team announced the final list of players for the ICC U-19 World Cup qualifying tournament in Namibia. The technical team announced 14 names that will make the trip to Namibia and dropped 4 players out the 18 players that were training for the tournament. He stated the U-19 boys started the preparation with over 30 young players. They qualified to the U-19 division 1 League when they ended as runner-up in the Division1 qualifying tournament in South Africa last year. In the Africa ICC U-19 World Cup qualifying, six countries are set to battle for one space to represent Africa in the U-19 World Cup tournament. Among the six countries are Namibia {host], Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya. The 50 Overs tournament will kick-off on Friday 15th to 23rd March 2019. But Sierra Leone will depart on the 27 February 2019 to undergo one week elite training in South Africa before they will head to Namibia. Sierra Leone will play first match in the league against Tanzania on the 15th March 2019 at United Oval.  According to the Chef Executive officer of the Association, Francis Samura, to the four players who were dropped, “You have demonstrated resilience, patience, discipline and courage, but only 14 players are required to represent Sierra Leone in the ICC U19 Cricket world cup qualifier Africa division 1 in Windhoek Namibia 15-24 March 2019.”

One of the players, Edward Ngegba, said that they are going to the competition to do their best.
